ET Motopark opens with practice day

On Saturday 3-12 ET Motopark opened its circle track to a test/tune/practice day. The new facility, 5 miles South of the 60 on Ironwood East of Mesa, had over 60 cars show up to try the new track out. Rick Setser, the tracks new GM was pleased with the turn out and the participation of the racers. Setser made it clear to everyone that this new venture was still in the learning process for all, but that the bottom line was people will be treated with respect and fairness at ET.
Track conditions offered a bumpy surface, not uncommon for a brand new track. Between one of the sessions they went out and bladed off the high spots and made it much smoother. Too much water too deep was the problem, and track officials took note and learned.
Staff was friendly and cordial. Things went off pretty orderly for the first effort.
There is another test/tune/practice day scheduled for next Saturday 2/19/11 from 1:00 to 5:00

Next Hoosier tire order

We will be placing an order for tires. Sprints, Late Models, Modifieds etc. on Tues 3-15-2011. We are trying to place our oders on the first and third Tuesday. We are trying to order in large quantities to reduce the freight rate. We are only stocking modified tires so if you want something else be sure to call and let us kow at 602-276-9250

Hoosier IMCA 500s are in

We received a shipment of the IMCA Hoosier 500 tires today so currently stock is good and prices are stable. We also have plenty of IMCA G60 tires

Gas prices on the rise

Disappointing but not surprising is that race gas prices are on the rise. Sunoco has had no price increase since the fall of 2008, and current rise in oil prices an increase in race gas prices should have been expected. The pleasant part is that while gas at the pump has risen by almost one dollar, or about 30%, race gas prices are not seeing that kind of increase. To get current pricing on your race gas needs call us at 602-276-9250.

Methanol seems stable for the time being. There is currently no hint of any major changes on the horizon that we see

Sunoco sweeps Canyon weekend

Canyon Speedway Park opened its Winter Challenge Series with two beautiful days of racing in Peoria Arizona that saw temperatures in the low 70’s under sunny skies.
Congratulations to Saturdays 1/22 winners Terry Belcher Jr. in the Modifieds,  Papa Joe Sarginger in the Super Stocks, and Anthony Madrid in the Pure Stock. All the winners displayed heads up driving in well prepared cars and were powered by Sunoco Race Fuel
On Sunday racers returned for day two of the Series. This time it was Jason Noll that bested the field in the Modifieds with Sarginger backing up his Saturday win with another win on Sunday in the Super Stocks, and Madrid returning to victory lane in the Pure Stocks. Once again winners were fueled by Sunoco Race Fuels.

That rotten egg smell in fuel

That rotten egg smell in race gas
If you notice a rotten egg smell from the race gas you are using, the product may not be what you want.
During the refining process of true race gas, much of the sulfur is refined out of the product. Typically the more refined and the higher quality the product, the more sulfur gets removed until there is virtually no sulfur left. Because lower sulfur levels are achieved through the process of additional refining, and because additional refining is expensive, higher sulfur levels may be found in fuels where corners were cut in the manufacturing process.
Higher sulfur levels often results in a fuel that leaves behind engine deposits - a very undesirable characteristic of any fuel, especially a high performance race fuel. This happens because the additional refining steps used in the production of a quality race fuel also tend to reduce the amount of components in fuel that can lead to engine deposits.
The sulfur issue can be much more complicated and technical. This explanation puts it in a much more understandable format. The bottom line is, as a rule, you should avoid using fuels that smell like rotten eggs in your race engines.
